Feel Good About What You Drink

We love rum. We love our planet and community more. By building an international rum company, our aim is to enable our staff to thrive, empower women and people of color to take on new roles, contribute to our community, and lead our industry in environmental sustainability and social responsibility. As the world’s first certified B Corp rum distillery, we have committed to balancing profit with purpose and undergoing a rigorous assessment every three years so you know every claim we make is true and verified. Our efforts have earned us recognition as a Best for the World company—we’re honored, of course, but most of all inspired to keep up the work!

The Environment

Recreation and the outdoors power our Colorado community. At Montanya, we are always looking for innovative ways to manage and reduce our environmental footprint. We strive to eliminate all plastic from our packaging. We choose to source from partners like glass bottle manufacturer O-I from which our bottles are Cradle-to-Cradle certified, and ByQuest for bottles for our new releases which are made from 100% recycled glass.

Gender Diversity

Since Montanya's inception, it's been part of our mission to empower women in the rum industry through education, access, opportunity, and action! We take pride in being part of being part of an industry where gender diversity is improving, but also realize there is still much work to be done.

JEDI Employment Practices

Our small town in Colorado made big headlines for painting a Black Lives Matter mural on main street. It was a moment to celebrate for Montanya Staff, many of whom have been involved in a local movement to make our community a more diverse and welcoming place. As a staff, we’ve also been working together to make Montanya a more equitable and inclusive workplace. There’s a lot to learn, but we know that we’re better at what we do (and have more fun!) when we embrace diversity of all kinds.
