Employee Spotlight: Megan Craver

Meg started working in our tasting room at Montanya nearly four years ago. First working in the kitchen, she then moved on to bottling rum, serving, and tending the bar. She now works as our Brand Ambassador and sales representative for Colorado. She primarily attends events like Spirits Festivals and Grand Tasting, and she works the occasional private party. She brings samples of our hand-crafted rum and bitters, along with batched cocktails that really showcase our rum. These sample cocktails help give people a sense of what they can do at home with our rum. Her presence at events helps to educate the public on our rum and also on where they can find it!

As a sales representative for Montanya, Meg travels to towns and cities in Colorado. She meets with liquor store owners, bar owners, and bartenders, and talks to them about high mountain rum. She also brings them up-to-date on all the great progress being made at our distillery, including the steps we are taking toward sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint, as well as expanding our overseas production. Sometimes this part of the job means introducing our rum to first-time buyers or helping our current on-and-off premise stores to increase their ordering. Additionally, she often meets with bartenders to help them create delicious Montanya cocktails at their bars. One of her favorite parts of traveling for Montanya is getting to say 'Thank you, thank you, thank you!' to all the wonderful people who help get our product out there.

When Meg is not working for Montanya, she is focusing on her artwork. She is currently a member of the Paragon Art Gallery in Crested Butte, where she shows her original paintings. She also makes a consistent effort to build her online presence as an artist and apply for new projects, shows and opportunities. She has taught art classes through the Center for the Arts, and she completed a mural on one of the painted buses of Crested Butte through the Mountain Express Bus company

Meg's paintings are inspired by impressionism and abstract expressionism. The subject of her most recent series is Storms, where her works depict building and breaking storms passing over mountains and landscapes of the Gunnison Valley and the Western Slope of Colorado.
