Employee Spotlight: Elana Hirschkatz

Elana is a House Ambassador in the Tasting Room and learning to bartend. It seems like she’s always smiling, and as you can tell from her answers below, always up for learning something new.

From the Midwest to the West

I grew up in Ohio, but found my way to CB after moving away from southern Utah. I was working in Leadville for Outward Bound the summer of 2015 and was trying to figure what I wanted to do with my winter. I'd been wanting to learn how to ski and I wanted to stay in Colorado, and several of my co-workers said Crested Butte was great, so here I am! CB is home because of the amazing (and weird) community and friendships I feel a part of and also the incredible access to the outdoors.

Seeing the World

I love traveling! My favorite place I've been to is outside of Bariloche, Argentina, an area called the Frey in Patagonia and bucket list wise, it's a tie between Cuba and Colombia.

On the Weekends You’ll Find Me

Playing outside whenever I can: mountain biking, climbing, skiing, backpacking and canyoneering. I also enjoy baking sourdough bread, cooking, going to see live music, and drinking coffee. I am also a doggy aunt to several dogs. [Editor’s note: Sounds like a good weekend to us!]

The Horsefeather Mobile Bar

Montanya employee Heidi Shabo (who came up with the Kokomo cocktail in a dream) and friend Carissa Allain started a popular new mobile bar in Crested Butte, where they often serve Montanya rums.
