4th of July at Montanya!

The 4th of July is a favorite holiday at Montanya, made extra special because we get to serve our customers our all American rums. They’re made in the Colorado Rockies with sugar cane from American family farmers and Colorado mountain water, and we love offering customers a genuinely American product in celebration of the holiday.

This year is no exception. While it’s true that many annual celebrations and tradition (like our local parade) have been put on hold, we’re enjoying the simple pleasure of being able to serve customers in our Tasting Room and on our patios. Just a month or two ago, we weren’t sure this would be a possibility because of Covid-19—and yet here we are, all because our community came together in support of the common good. We can’t think of anything more patriotic than that. 🇺🇸

So although this time remains uncertain we’re going to enjoy the holiday weekend and bring just as much celebratory spirit to the 4th of July as any other year—while social distancing and wearing our masks, of course! Here’s what we have on tap:

A Little Disco Jive

One of our favorite floats in the 4th of July parade always comes from our local radio station, KBUT, because it features the King and Queen of Soul. They’re crowned annually at Soul Train, the biggest dance party of the year, and earn their crowns by being some of the last on the dance floor (trust us, this is a coveted honor in our mountain town).

Since we don’t get to watch the King and Queen of Soul dance their way down Elk Avenue this year, we’re bringing the disco vibe ourselves to honor them. On Saturday July 4th from 11am to last call at 9, we’re hanging up the disco ball, donning our best, and cranking the disco dance mix. And for every one of our staff who dresses up, we’ll donate $25 to KBUT.

While we won’t actually have a dance floor and safe rules mean we can’t congregate, you’re welcome to join in the fun by coming in your best bell bottoms and sequins, and as space allows in our regular seating, groovin’ in your seat (seating is first come first served). If you can’t get a seat, we welcome you to do a “dance through” with social distance (in the front door and out the back!).

4th of July Giveaway

You don’t have to be in the Tasting Room to be in on the fun. We’re doing a giveaway! When you subscribe to our newsletter this weekend, you’ll be entered to win Montanya prizes, including rum, cocktail recipe books and cocktail bitters. Winners will be contacted Tuesday, July 7th.

If you’re in Crested Butte, we hope we get to wish you a Happy 4th, and if you’re somewhere else across the country (or around the world) we hope you and yours are well, happy and enjoying the season.
