Expanding Distribution in the UK

Even during uncertain times, it’s amazing how the world works sometimes. In 2019, our founder and owner Karen Hoskin met the creative minds behind Skylark Spirits at the Miami Rum Congress, two brothers and their childhood friend who grew up to become rum aficionados and distribute premium craft rum through their London, England-based company.

As you can imagine, they spoke Karen’s language when it came to premium rum. The friendship was instantaneous, and plans for a business partnership followed not long after. Now, as of May 2020, Skylark has begun distributing Montanya Rums across the pond and is already making a difference in their availability.

The company is distributing all four of Montanya’s rums across the United Kingdom and Europe, including Exclusiva and Valentia which haven’t been previously available. They’re also making it easier to find. While the focus will initially be on expanding distribution in England, a partnership between Skylark and Master of Malt already makes it possible to have Montanya rums delivered to your door anywhere in Europe.

The announcement is one of several we hope to make this year bringing us closer to our goal: to make it easier for Montanya fans to find our rums close to home. It also feels like a bright spot in the midst of such a challenging time, and we are so grateful to everyone who has forged ahead to make this dream partnership a reality.

While the coronavirus pandemic sidelined many of the original launch events, several celebrations are planned. Karen and Montanya will take part in a series of rum festivals, including the first ever European Online Rum Festival coming up this month.
