A Cocktail for Every Fall Occasion
We’ve rounded up some of our favorite rum cocktail recipes for fall. And while it can’t be denied they’d all be delicious on any autumn day, we’ve paired them with a variety of our favorite occasions. Enjoy!
Labor Day Weekend
If you’re looking to hold onto the flavors of summer, we highly recommend the Cucumber Templar. Made with Montanya Platino, it’s light and refreshing, and perfect if you prefer your rum cocktails topped with soda or tonic. You might also like the Sandia Smash, made with fresh watermelon puree (shown above without ice, though we often enjoy it on the rocks). We’re also fans of the Renegade for long weekends spent by the lake—it pairs Montanya Platino with the beer of your choice: non-alcoholic, IPA or gluten-free.
Football
When the score brings your passion to the surface, there’s nothing better to reach for than a Fiery Passion. A little sweet, a little spicy, and fresh—like every good fan should be!
Apple Picking/Fall Harvest
Our home town of Crested Butte, Colorado is just over a mountain pass from some of the best peach, apple and pear orchards in the country. It’s always a fun fall trip to see the colors and enjoy some of the best produce Colorado has to offer.
If you find yourself enjoying a similar fall harvest, we have two rum cocktail recommendations: the Apple Orchard, which pairs apple cider and fresh lime juice with honey and ginger syrup, and the Fall Manhattan, which dresses up a traditional Manhattan with Pür Spirits Williams Pear, Pür Amaro and cardamom bitters. Both feature Montanya Oro.
Leaf Peeping
The Painkiller, of course! A sprinkle of nutmeg adds a hint of fall flavor to this rum classic, which pairs Oro, fresh pineapple and orange juices, and cream of coconut. Plus, it just happens to match the golden aspen leaves that make Colorado such a popular autumn destination.
Halloween
So many great cocktails to choose from! If you’re the type to bob for apples (or just love caramel apples), you might want to try the Sweet Tooth—salted caramel meets Montanya Oro, garnished with a slice of apple. If you’re more likely to dress up as your favorite Harry Potter character, then perhaps give the Hottanya a go, which would fill in nicely as Butterbeer. We could also see a coven of witches gathered ‘round a nice pot of Rum Sangria, a rum punch that is sure to please. And finally, more into the Day of the Dead? Try the Señorita, our version of the margarita.
Thanksgiving
If you’re making a traditional Thanksgiving meal, why not try a couple of cocktails that make use of herbs already on the menu? If you’re a fan of white rum, the Salty Dog combines red grapefruit juice with fresh rosemary. And if you prefer a darker rum, check out the Bay Manhattan, which can be made with Oro or one of our longer-aged rums, Exclusiva or Valentia.
