Best for the World Honoree

For the second time, Montanya Distillers has been recognized as a Best for the World B Corp because of our commitment to environmentally sustainable business practices and policies. We have to be honest—it’s a thrill to learn we rank in the top 5% of all B Corps in our size group, worldwide, for environmental sustainability. We often find ourselves so focused on doing the work that we forget to celebrate what we’ve accomplished.

Best for the World 2021

The Best for the World recognition is overseen by B Lab, the global nonprofit network that assesses and certifies B Corporations. These for-profit companies meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency, and include some of the brands we admire the most, like New Belgium Brewing, Patagonia and TOMS.

Becoming a B Corp in 2018 just made sense for Montanya. From the beginning, our founder and owner Karen Hoskin wanted to build a business that left the earth healthy and whole for her sons and generations to come. B Lab also offered third party verification of our business practices across all of the categories that matter to us, including the environment, how we treat our employees, and how we contribute to our community.

We were initially recognized as a Best for the World company in 2019, our first year of eligibility, and the program was put on hold in 2020 during the pandemic before returning in 2021. The Best for the World lists are determined based on the verified B Impact Assessment administered to become a Certified B Corp. The assessment evaluates companies across several categories of business, and a company must achieve a score of at least 80 points to become certified. We have a score of 119 and are up for recertification in 2021. The full Best for the World lists are available here and you can read about Montanya’s commitment to being a force for good here.
